Cabled Leftover Neck Roll

2017-05-26 14.21.11Ohh what can I knit with all this leftover yarn?

A topic we all know to well…we work on one project and then either we do not have enough yarn or too much. But what can we use that for to nice to just throw away…I think.

I am laughing at times. I have so many gorgeous yarns in my stash that are waiting for YES…

“That Perfect Project”

Believe me, I will find one just give me time.

However I tend to go to my leftover yarns and use them up most of the time.

I just can’t see it sitting around to long …As my mother would say when we chat on skype. Oh Jacqueline   “How many scarfs or shawls do you need?”  LOL never enough winters are cold here in Canada… same as in Switzerland just much longer.  You can belive me  add on one month on each ende of the winter then you have Canada weather easely….

Anyway let’s forget about the weather, back to knitting  I really love to just be creative and work something up as I go.

“A Needle Pulling Thread” Spring 2017

the request was ” What to do with leftover yarns?”   Ah ha I though…!

A Neck roll form I had around the home and so it became my

“Cabled Leftover Neck Roll”

Pattern can buy purchased her or find the magazine at your newstand. Yarn well guess what, just use some of your leftover stash and make it YOURS… play with as many colours or yarn type as you like and just have fun…

Smiles I am proud to have been in  “A Needle Pulling Thread” magazine for more than one year now. Thanks Carla and John for believing in my talent.

Happy Knitting …..

My “150 Canada Celebration Tulip”

File 2017-05-31, 3 10 15 PM

“150 Canada Celebration Tulip”

White And Red I thought…..but Yellow and Red mine are…

Smile “Nature”  has it’s own way.

They where to be pure white with red. Was it to be red Maple Leaves from what I hear?

File 2017-05-31, 3 51 16 PMMagical I guess they are now.

I was kind of surprised too when the one of 50 bulbs I planted last Fall opened up YELLOW with red markings….

Really?! was my first initial thought…..

Finally…today we have some sunshine for my 50 Tulips to all open up…and it looks like I have more than 50 heads yehhh……yes all in light yellow… but one. Look at the one that looks like Micky Mouse Ears.

very pretty and with jagged edges… like someone did some paper cutting all though the edges.

Have to say there is not much white to them ….but who cares they are pretty and

on really super tall stems too. I hope they will last for at least two weeks.

And I am sure we all will have a fun 150 Year Canada

even if our tulips are Yellow with Red…

Happy 150 Year Canada…

Fresh Rhubarb

File 2017-05-17, 12 40 02 PMYes finally something fresh again from my garden….Rhubarb is ready for some good stuff. I love to make this flan we call “Weihe” in Switzerland. So yummy and soooo easy to make too. File 2017-05-17, 12 39 45 PM

Make a pastry from flour, butter, water, vinegar and salt. Let it rest for about 1 hour in fridge. Roll the pastry out and place in backing dish, add the cut up rhubarb. Place in oven for 10 min. Now add the egg, milk and sugar mix to the flan backing in oven  for another 45 min or till egg mixture is solid.

Ohhh sooo yummy

Volunteer Work

File 2017-05-11, 4 08 56 PMTime to do something good for the community

So off to sewing placemats and two pillows. Several of our Special Needs Adult kids are volunteering their time at a Retirement Home in Aurora.

So I thought since I can’t help on sight, I could help out too and sew up some stuff for them to sell at the TuckShop….Lots of great fabric was donated for me to use. Thanks You !

Hopefull the TuckShop will have fun selling them too. More will come soon too….Though I hope this is a good start for now. Enjoy

With this TuckShop our Special Need Adult Volunteers learn so many great things…counting money, selling items, manage to be with others, teamwork, communicating with customers, listening to others….the list goes on and not to forget having  some fun too.

Antigua Holidays

IMG_2824Spending some time together with my hubby…yehhhh just him and I in the beautiful Island of Antigua. I tell You I was in paradise for sure.

Sooo miss it now…:-)))

The ocean turquoise blue and so clear and warm. The resort “St.James Club and Villas” truly a fantastic place.

Let me tell you the people just sooooo happy all the time…but how could you not living in the sunshine all the time and having the sound of the evening crickets chirp you to sleep. IMG_3859 Once the crickets stop you know it is time to get up!!!….and the birds start to sing….as you hear the surf of the ocean hit the shore and the palm leaves swing in the wind…So Peaceful and relaxing.

We where able to go onto two snorkeling trips. One with a catamaran along the Caribbean side of the Ocean that we booked and one right from our resort.  Guess what, that trip we won at Monday nights mangers party …luck us the ocean was calm on the second last day of our holidays.

IMG_3811Conch shells where lots to be found…smiles without the conch in it and to get the pink colour one had to find the one that was still housing the conch in it…and hubby dove down to the ocean floor several times to find some for us….We had seen a stingray and several schools of beautiful fishes even two big barracuda where close to us too…..

I think the pictures will tell you a story all on its own.

I sure can tell you I really miss that part of our world…and I am happy to say all that rain has finally stopped that we have been getting since we came back …..so I can be outside again enjoying my gardening now all is green… (cry not ocean blue….)

Memories are beautiful to have too….one day we will be back.

Jelly Roll Bags

File 2017-04-12, 9 26 54 AMYes out of one Jelly Roll Fabric bundle I have sewn up 4 of these wonderful spring-summer take along bags.

Von einem Jelly Roll Fabric Bündel habe ich 4  wunderbaren Frühling-Sommer Taschen genäht

Perfect for going to the beach, or just carry along your necessary items. Perhaps your project bag for your knitting or crocheting…you name it just a overall handy little bag to have.

I found this free pattern on Shabby Fabric.com I am in love with her tutorials on YouTub. Very clear instructions and easy to follow too.

Now the only problem I have is I love them all and can’t decide the one I will keep….

Like Spring I thought it would be nice to change a little stuff up on my blog. Now you see the main picture of my blog post instead of the full post. You can click on it and it will open up the new post. Or You can scroll to the right and find an older post click on it and voila it will open up the article.
