What an amazing and fun knit this Botanica Medallion Cardigan is. 
 The pattern i had found several years ago in a Vogue Knitting Magazine in the Spring / Summer Issue 2009.
 The pattern is a Shiri Mor design.
 I had the plan for a while now to knit this but there always was another project that I liked too.

 
  Since I had 4 skeins of EL. D. Mouzakis Butterfly Super 10  in my collection, I took my needles and Yarn and cast this Medallion on.
 With seize 4mm Needle and only 3 skeins of the 4 that I had, this cardigan took its shape on.
 This cardigan fits perfectly.
The drap and the softness is gorgeous and the yarn shows the start pattern on the back to perfection too.
 
 
 
 
 Was für eine erstaunliches Muster, bringt auch  Spaß  dieses Botanica Medallion Cardigan zu stricken.
Das Muster habe ich  vor einigen Jahren in einem Vogue Knitting Magazine gefunden, in der Frühling / Sommer Ausgabe 2009.       Entworfen von  Shiri Mor-Design.
 Ich hatte für eine Weile vor diese Ärmellose Jacke zu stricken  doch hatte ich dann immer ein anderes Projekt, dass ich auch wieder gern auf den Nadeln hatte in meinem Werk.
 
                                                                                                                           
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 Da ich  4 Knäuel von “EL. D. Mouzakis Schmetterling Super 10″ in meiner Sammlung hatte.
 War es einfach nun entlich dieses Medallion Jacke an zuschlagen.
Mit Nadel nummer 4mm -und nur 3 Stränge der 4, die ich hatte, nahm diese Jacke ihre Form an.
 Dieser Cardigan passt perfekt.
 Er fällt sehr schön am Körper und die Weichheit ist wunderschön.
  Das Garn zeigt dieses Start-Muster auf dem Rücken  zur Perfektion an.

So simple and easy to knit….”  Kayla Shrug by Americo Original” one more time.  But this time it is for a 5 to 7 year old girl.  Unfortunately I do not know what yarn this is other than some blends of cotton and….??? Knit with needle size 3.5mm and about 2.5 skeins of yarn.  This one had to be finished in one week…time when fast and finished it was…but that meant time for us to go on the plane and fly back home to Canada. 

 Love the way the colours play together and make a pattern…

Hello again I have taken a short break from posting…but have lots to show you all…I have visited my home country Switzerland. Enjoyed a view weeks with my family at home…all to short….but nice

So here are some pictures for you to enjoy.  The first week I was home, the Town Moehlin had there Yearly ‘Fasnachts” something like  carnival. It has been a very long time since I had seen it last …about 30 years for sure.  I did enjoy seeing a lot of my friends, family and school friends there….lots of fun as you can see

So ich bin wieder am schreiben nach einer kleinen Pause davon…wir hatten einen Besuch in der Schweiz mein Heimatland gemacht für ein paar Wochen und haben vieles erlebt und gesehen… doch wie immer der Besuch war viel zu kurz….doch schön

Werde versuchen sobald wir wieder zuhause sind Euch allen ein paar Fotos davon zu zeigen.  Wir durften sogar auch die Fasnacht in Möhlin mit feiern…wie schön das war nach so langer Zeit etwa 30 Jahren auch das wieder einmal zu sehn zu bekommen.  Auch all meine Freunden, Verwanten und Schulkammeraden wieder zu sehn….und hatten es natürlich sehr lusting dabei…

A hat for someone nice…..

This pattern is from Garnstudio  available for free to download ” 123-20 Basque Hat with Cable”

  I used only about 1/3 of a skein from Cascade Yarns Ecological Wool.  With needle Size 3.5mm for the ribbing and  then I switching to 5mm needles to work the cable pattern.

   I have to say so far I am very happy with this Cascade Eco Wool it knits up very nice and it never ends. 

 I have knit my Fall Cardigan with Hood and felted Slippers with the same yarn and it has worn very nice too.

 Ich brauchte nur etwa 1/3 von dem Kneuel von Cascade Yarns Ecological Wolle.  Mit Nadel # 3.5mm habe ich das Ripen Muster angefangen dann mit Nadel # 5mm weiter das Zopf Muster gestrickt.

Ich muss sagen mit  dieser Wolle stricke ich gern,  die verstickt sich auch schön weit.  Habe auch schon meinen Herbst Cardigan mit Hood und Gefiltze Finken im letzten Jahr gestrickte.  Soweit ich sagen darf sieht die immer noch schön aus.

Well I finished knitting this shawl before Christmas for ” Unwind Yarn House”  yarn sample.  This was a very fast knit and very easy great for someone  with little experience in triangular shawl patterns.  The “Feather Duster” Shawl pattern is by Susan Lawrence the yarn I have knit this wonderful shawl in, is  ” Dye-Version Bamboo Fingering “  used 1 skeins = 386.0 yards (353.cm)in royal blue  and knit with needle 4.5mm. If you like to knit this bigger then use 2 skeins.

 I believe Wendy will take this one along to the “Vogue Knitting Life Show” coming up the end of the month in New York City too.  She should have a great booth if any of you are close to see this.  It would be nice to see some pictures if any of you are lucky enough to attend this show.

Nun, dieses Tuch habe ich  vor Weihnachten für ”Unwind Yarn House” Garn Muster für den Wolladen fertig gestrickt . Dies war eine sehr schnelles und sehr einfaches Muster.  Ein gutes Muster  für jemanden mit wenig Erfahrung in Dreieck-Tuch Muster.  Dieses ” Feather Duster” Schal Muster ist von  Susan Lawrence. Das Garn mit dem ich dieses wunderbaren Tuch gestrickt hatte, ist “Dye-Version Bamboo Fingern” mit nur  1 Knäuel = 386,0 Yards (353.cm) in Königsblau und  gestrickt mit Nadel 4,5 mm.  Für ein grösseres Tuch würde ich zwei Stangen entfehlen.

Ich glaube, Wendy wird dieses Tuch auch  zu der  ”Vogue Knitting Life Show”   ende diesen Monat  in New York City mitnehmen.  Sie soll einen großen Stand haben in der Show. Wenn jemand von Euch in der Nähe ist und das Glück hat, diese Show zu Besuchen, wäre es schön, einige Bilder zu sehen von dem Stand etc.

Look at the snow we have in our backyard….not as much as London, Ontario up to one meter in one week….I remeber those times in London and in Gstaad, Switzerland…..but the mountains ohh they are not here…. I hear Europe such as Paris and London aswell as Geneva Switzerland did have a lot of that white stuff too. 

 It has been snowing on and off for the pasted week….it looks so pretty…but the shoveling has to be done too and next to this my knitting projects have to be finished too…So I am keeping this short this time…Have a nice and peaceful weekend…

Schaut wie viel Schnee wir in unserm Garten haben….nicht so viel wie London, Onatrio sie haben bis zu einem Meter Schnee währent einer Woche bekommen. Ich erinnnere mich an diese Zeiten in London und in Gstaad.  Doch die Bergen sind nicht bei mir…..  Ich sehe auch in Europa wie Paris, London oder Genf in der Schweiz haben viel von dem Weissen bekommen.

Doch das Schnee schaufeln muss gemacht werden und ich habe noch etliches an Strickarbeiten zum Erledigen….so ich mach es diesmal kurz….doch wünsche ich Euch Allen ein frohes gemühtliches Wochenende

Double Leaf Scarf In Christmas Red December 13, 2010

This lovely scarf  was knit with just one skein of Cascade Yarn Eco+  from www.cascadeyarns.com.  It is a nice big size with measurements of 35cm wide and 165cm long.  I used a 5.5mm needle .  With this scarf you work the bottom edge first from side to side than cast off all stitches.  Make sure you do knit chart 1 , 5 times as the chart 2 will be wider and you will need 5 repeats of chart 1 to make it not  odd in the sizing.  Cast on for the body of the scarf along the length of the just knit pice.  I worked 7 times the pattern and then placed the stitches on a needle.   This you knit two times and then knit the middle together with a thee needle cast of,  or you can sew them together in the middle. The pattern is from the VOGUEknitting Holiday Issue 2010.

Dieser schön Schal habe ich mit nur einer Strange Cascade Yarn Eco + von www.cascadeyarns.com gestrickt.  Mit Nadel Nummer 5.5mm wie fertig gestrickt misst dieser Schal in der Breite ganze 35cm und 165cm in der Läge. Dazu strickt man die Schablone 1 ganze 5 Mal.  Pass auf das Du das einghälts damit die Breite nicht zu schmall wird,  dann alle Maschen abketten. In der Breite von dem gerade gestricken Teil Maschen auffassen und  dabei habe  ich ganze 7 mal das Muster wiederholt.  Maschen auf eine Hilfs-nadle legen und das zweite Teil stricken.  Am Schluss werden die beiden Teile zusammen gestrickt mit einer Dreinadel Abkettung.  Oder Du kanst auch beide Teile zusammmen naehen…Das Muster habe ich von dem VOGUEknitting Holday Issue 2010 genommen.

Another fun knit…..lots of lace and Silk Alpaca. I love the colour combination from rust red to brown into gray.  Just perfect for my red or gray winter coat.  Oh I have my “Silver Bell“  too that I am wearing, now that it is cooler again.  You can see that jacket  in one of my earlier posts.  Or just go to “knitting, Winter”  in my clouds and you see it there.

…..oh what am I talking about….  I don’t have to wait!!! Burr….It’s cold and time to put on the scarf to go outside. The yarn I used to knit this silky scarf is “Fleece Artist Merino Angel” I used only one skein and it is almost 2 meters long.

Schon wieder ein tollers Muster zum Stricken ….. viel Spitze und Alpaca Seide.  Mir gefällt die Farb Kombination, von Rostrot  ins Graue dann auch noch Braun. Einfach perfekt für meinen roten oder grauen Wintermantel.  Oh, natürlich habe ich ja auch meine “Silver Bell Jacke“, die ich jetzt wieder tragen kann.   Diese  Jacke habe ich im letzten Winter einmal in meinem Blog gezeigt, wo Ihr sie sehen könnt unter ” Stricken,Handarbeit, Winter” 
 …….oh, was rede ich da …. muss nicht warten! Burr …. Es ist kalt und Zeit den Schal zu tragen wenn ich nach draußen gehen. Für den schal benutztz ich das Garn  ”Fleece Artist Merino Angel” mit nur einen Strang und fast 2 Meter lang gefällt mir der Schal gut.

This Entrelac Scarf is knit with “Baby Kid Extra” Golden Line from “Filature Di Crosa” in Italy.

Long Mohair scarf and so silky and soft yet very luscious and with lots of volume.  Knit with lace panels provides this scarf some richness and a stunning effect worn over a black dress for the winter holiday parties. 

 One of my favourite.  I will be knitting one for myself too.  This one will go to ”Unwind Yarn House”  for display and  to the “VOGUEknitting International Live” show in January 2011 in New York City where she will have her booth too.  The pattern is in the Vogue Knitting Holiday Issue 2010 available.

 

Dieser Entrelac Schal ist mit “Baby Kid Extra” Golden Line, von “Filature Di Crosa” in Italien, gestrickt.

Ein langer Mohair Schal und so seidig und weich, aber sehr sanft und mit viel Volumen. Gestrickt mit Spitzen-Panels bietet dieses Halstuch einiger Reichtum an und macht ein beeindruckenden Effekt über einem schwarzen Kleid für die Winterliche Weihnachts Feste. Einer  von meinen Favoriten. Ich werde auch einen für mich selber stricken. Da dieser zu “Unwind Yarn House”  zur Aussetung im Laden geht,  sowie auch für die “VOGUEknittingInternational  Live” Schau, im Januar 2011 in New York City,  wo sie ihr Stand auch haben wird.

During our last years Winter Olympic 2009 in Canada

At the closing ceremony we all got to see this wonderful hand knit  Jacket worn by the Canadian Athletic Team.  I was looking everywhere for this jacket. But with no luck, all sold out. 

We are now so lucky to be able to purchase the yarn and pattern under the name “Canadian Pride 2010″ by Briggs and Little…. LUCKY ME !!!

 I already  knit two. One for  my daughter  and one for myself.  So nice and snuggly warm irresistible to knit and wear. 

I was stumped though when I saw the  “ROVING” from Briggs and Little. I had never knit with roving.  One has to twist the roving  as you knit it,to make it strong and not rip.  Not bad once you get the hang of it.  For my daughter I knit the Youth size Large and added 6 extra row by the sleeve for length. For myself I knit the adult version in 38-40.  You can see the difference in the pictures.  One is more like a coat the other is like a jacket. My daughters will fit me too just much tighter  than the adult one.  Both are very nice and great to wear right now. For both I used needle size 6mm and 8mm.  though for my daughters I tightened up my knitting somewhat as I got more comfortable knitting with the roving not thinking it would break every time I knit a stitch.

 Während den letzten Winter Olympic 2009 in Kanada

Konnten wir alle bei der Abschlussfeier sehen wie das Kanadier Home team diese wunderbare hand gestricken Jacke getragen hatten. Ich suchte überall nach dieser Jacke. Aber ohne Glück, leider alle ausverkauft.
 
 Darum freute es mich doch, dass jetzt das Garn und Muster unter dem Namen ”Canadian Pride 2010″  von Briggs und Little erhältlich ist …. Lucky Me! Ich habe bereits zwei davon gestricken. Eine  Jacke für meine Tochter und eine für mich. So schön und kuschelig warm unwiderstehlich zum Stricken und zum Tragen. 
Ich war aber etwas erstaunt als ich die   ”Roving”   von Briggs und Little in den Händen hatte zum Stricken, etwas ratlos. Ich hatte noch nie zuvor mit Roving gestricken. Man muss die Roving verdrehen beim stricken, damit es stark ist und nicht zerreißt. Nicht schlecht wenn man einmal den Hang dafür hat.
  
 
 
 Für meine Tochter strickte ich die  Jugend Größe ”Large” und hat 6 zusätzliche Reihen beim Ämel für die Länge gestrickt. Für mich benutzte ich die  Erwachsene Größe  38-40. Ihr seht den Unterschied in den Bildern.  Meiner ist mehr wie ein Mantel, der für meine Tochter ist mehr wie eine Jacke. Beide sind sehr nett und toll jetzt  zu tragen. Für Beide habe ich Nadel Nummer 6mm und 8mm benutzt. Doch fuer die Jugend Jacke habe ich meine Maschen etwas mehr zusammen gezogen als ich etwas sicherer wurde mit dem roving stricken, damit es fester gestricket ist.

Our local yarn store “Unwind Yarn House” had this amazing new yarn called “Drake” by Estelle Yarns from Italia in the store.   I just could not resist this one so very soft and the colours…. Since I had some time to start a new project, I decided to work this great pattern”Kayla Shrug “  (pattern from Americo Original), that I had knit several time already,  into a shrug with much heavier yarn and look at how beautiful it turned out.

I hade to modified the amount of stitches I cast on  and used several different needle sizes to have some fun in the way it will look at the end.  My sleeves are also much longer then the original.  But great to wear in the car or to the mall…

Unser lokale Wollladen ”Unwind Yaren House” hatte dieses weiche neues Garn  “Drake”   von Estelle Garn aus Italien in den Laden. Ich konnte es einfach nicht widerstehen um mit dem etwas neues zu stricken. So weich und die Farben….Da  ich etwas Zeit hatte, um ein neues Projekt auf meine Nadeln zu legen,  kam diese Wolle schnell nach hause.  Also beschloss ich dass schöne  Muster “Kayla Shrug” (Muster von Americo Origina)  einmal etwas anders dar zu stellen. 

Ich musste doch die Maschen Anzahl verändert da das Garn etliches dicker ist.  Mit Nadel Nummer 5.5mm angestrickt, anstatt mit 4.0 -4.5mm.  Währent des sticken benutzte ich auch  verschiedene Größen  von Nadeln.  Dadurch ergabe es auch etwas  Abwechslung und Spaß in der Art und Mutster,  wie dieser Shrug am  Ende aus sieht.  Meine Ärmel sind auch viel länger als das Original. Aber toll, im Auto oder für in das Einkauf Zentrum  zu tragen …

 

A visit to the Niagara Wine Region September 13, 2010

Not to long ago we visited some friends in the Niagara Wine Region in Ontario and on the way there we decided to stop in at this Winery like “Peninsula Ridge Estates Winery” and “Angels Gate”.  I love all the wood and grape vines that one can see looking out  the window.  It’s wonderful and so relaxing to have a glass of wind on the terrace that is overlooking the Winery.

Noch nicht so lange here waren wir auf Besuch bei unsern Freunden die in der Niagara Wein Region, Ontario  wohnen.  Schnell einen kurzen Aufenthalt bei ein paar Weingute wie ”Peninsula Ridge Estates Winery” and “Angels Gate”.  Ich liebe all das Holz und die Aussicht über die Reben durch das Fenster.  Ja auch ein Glass Wein auf der Terasse mit Aussicht über die Reben ist schön und relaxing.

Knitted Vest In Copito Medio Wool September 5, 2010

So very simple but yet so stunning.  I was asking myself:” A big rectangular and two armhole openings?” how will that look on a person wearing it?  Well what a surprise this was. See for yourself…  I think it  looks very nice I love the length and with jeans….  I did use 4 skeins of the new “Copito Medio” wool from Americo Original http://www.americo.ca/ .  This vest was knit with needle size 6mm and finished in one day.  Very easy and great for beginners too.

So super einfach… doch so in Style.  Ich fragte mich  doch was das sein soll: “Ein Rechteck mit zwei Löcher für die Arme?”  Wie soll das an einer Person aussehen?  Ich finde es aber sehr schön und die länge ist auch gut.  Sieht gut aus mit Jeans…..was finded Ihr?  Würde mich interresiern was Ihr dazu denkt.  Ich brauchte 4 Kneuel von dem “Copito Medio” Wolle von Americo Original http://www.americo.ca/ .   Mit Nadel # 6mm gestrickt ware diese Veste innert einem Tag fertig.  Sehr einfach und gut für Anfänger.

I just love this pink cable knit shawl to snuggle up in.

  So super soft cotton “All Seasons Cotton” by Rowan …I was amazed to see the stunning size of this shawl.  The cables are just perfect for this pattern from Vogue Knitting Magazine fall 2009 edition it gives a nice texture to this wrap.  Knits up so fast too…but look out it is heavy and you will have a lot of stitches on your needles….something like 300 plus.

Dieser Schal is so wunderschön weich und sanft mit dem leichten rosa Farbe ist dieses “All Seasons Cotton”Rowan. 

 Freue micht richtig, mich in den hinein zu schuggeln.  Doch staunte ich schon als ich die Grösse sah als es fertig war.  Perfect für um die Schulter zu legen und mich warm zu behalten.  Das Zopfmuster  auch wunderschön für dieses Muster von demVogue Knitting Heft vom Herbst 2009.  Schell gestrickt… doch pass auf  es wird schweer sein  mit etwas mehr als 300 Maschen auf den Nadeln
